Dear Expectant Parent(s),
We admire you for your courage, love, and selflessness to consider an adoption plan for your child. Thank you for taking the time to learn a little bit about us. We know you have the most difficult decision ahead of you. We pray for guidance and clarity for you during this time. We hope this will help show you who we are and if we are a good fit for you and your child. We would love the chance to meet you and have a long term relationship with you should you desire.
We met through mutual friends while Michelle was home over summer break from college in Michigan in 2005. Building our relationship long distance for almost two years helped teach us to be honest to one another and trusting of each other. After college Michelle moved back home to Wisconsin and two years later we got married in December of 2009. We knew going into marriage we couldn't have biological children. After being married for two years God gave us clarity in our decision to become parents. We started on our adoption journey and welcomed home our first child, Abigail, in 2014. We both have several siblings and always knew that we wanted our children to be blessed with siblings as well. So here we are; ready for our family to grow again.
Jarrod's family is so big it's hard to keep track of them all! With 3 older brothers, 1 older sister, 14 nieces and nephews and 3 great nieces and nephews there is never a dull moment or empty spot on the couch. Michelle has 1 older sister, two younger brothers and 4 nieces and nephews. Family is a big part of our lives. Living near our families we see them regularly and are supported by them in our decision to adopt. We love having our own family traditions that we started as well as continuing our extended family traditions each year. Every summer we take a week-long vacation up North to a cabin on a lake. We love the feeling of being unplugged from the world and to be able to focus on our family. We spend a lot of quality time together exploring nature, playing games and relaxing on the lake. Two of our favorite traditions that we started are our Brewer trips each year. We go to one Brewer game a year with Abigail, as a family. Then we take one trip a year, just the two of us, to watch the Brewers play in a different city to focus on us as a couple.
We recently moved to our new home that is just blocks away from most of Jarrod’s family and a mile from where he works. Michelle works from home part time and is a nanny for her sister part time, so she gets to have Abigail with her all the time and be a big part of how she is raised. At home we have a fun-loving and snuggly puggle named Moli and enjoy taking her for walks. Our backyard is our favorite place to be as a family. There is always something to do. Exploring our flower beds, looking for worms, working on our new vegetable garden or playing on our play set that was handed down to us from Jarrod’s sister. Inside our home we like to call our main floor family room our “kid’s zone.” It’s full of toys, games, books and art supplies so we can have a fun place to play and pretend and not always have to clean it up.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about us. Our hope is to have an open adoption plan with you where your child knows who his or her birth parents are, where we regularly talk open with our child about adoption, and if you desire, we would love to have visits and keep you up to date his or her entire life. We pray that God gives you clarity and the support you need as you make your decision.
With Love & Respect,
Jarrod & Michelle
