We hope to get the chance to meet you, and wanted to share with you a little about ourselves so that you could hopefully start to get to know us.
It was the first day of freshman orientation at our college. We were at the student union with the rest of the incoming freshman class hoping to meet people and make some friends. I (Emily) scanned the group of people scattered around and that’s when I saw him, my future husband, although I didn’t know it at the time. Ryan was just the cute boy in the baseball hat that I wanted to talk to. That began a year of friendship that lead to a lifetime of love. Close to 5 years later, we said I do.
After a year of marriage we decided it was time to add a puppy to our family. We found Boulder, our yellow lab, and it was love at first sight. We enjoy taking Boulder hiking, swimming, and boating. He loves to cuddle, run and play with our friend’s children.
Emily is an elementary school teacher who loves pouring into her students, while Ryan is a Facilities Director a camp that hosts both a summer camp and year round retreat groups. Living at a camp, our love of adventure and the outdoors is nurtured. We spend our summers horseback riding, hammocking, camping and boating. In the fall we love bike rides, apple picking and cider making. We anxiously await winter so that we can go snowshoeing and snowboarding along with ice skating on the frozen lake. The spring brings the sugaring season so we can make our own maple syrup.
About 3 years into our marriage, Ryan and I felt it was time to add kids to our family. We have both always dreamed of being parents and we were excited to take the journey together. About a year later, we learned we would be unable to have biological children. This was heartbreaking news, but as we prayed through our grief and pain, we continued to feel God’s presence in our lives.
We felt lead to pursue embryo adoption and we were blessed and became pregnant from our second transfer. We were overjoyed at this miracle that God had provided. At our 11 week check-up, we learned that our baby’s heart was no longer beating and we were devastated by our loss. Again, God has filled us with the strength to overcome our loss and seek to glorify Him.
As we seek God’s will throughout this journey, we feel more strongly than ever that He is calling us to be parents. We dream of a big family and we believe that God will make that dream a reality through adoption.
Although we cannot begin to imagine or understand your thoughts or feelings, we know the pain of having your life change in an instant, and the unbearable grief that comes with losing a child. We also know without a doubt the incredible, redeeming love and saving grace of our God. It is this love that we already feel for you and your child.
We want you to know that we are praying for you and that you are unconditionally loved.
