Dear Friend We Haven’t Met Yet,
Where to even begin… we love you and haven’t even laid our eyes on you yet. You are prayed for, brave, courageous, and so strong. As you go through this season of making the biggest decision of your life, we wanted to let you and the little one know a few things about us.
We first met in 2011 at the recommendation of some mutual friends. Right away we knew there was something there. At the time we were living about three hours and a time zone apart. Since we were long distance and time was valuable, we started a game of “fun facts” to get to know each other (I learned that Jen loves anything and everything cotton candy flavored and she learned that Duke’s is the only brand of mayo I’ll eat).
This game continued for several months until our jobs allowed us to finally relocate to the same city. We dated for a little over two years before I popped the question in front of Cinderella’s Castle at Disney World. Seven months later she walked down the aisle to take my last name in a pink wedding dress. Yes, that’s right, I said pink. This alone is an example of her willingness to take on any adventure.
The past several years have been filled with traveling, trying out tons of new restaurants, and making sure that every day is celebrated and memories are made. All of this has gotten us to where we are today.
Jen has several blood disorders and after consulting with a handful of doctors it has been advised for her to not carry a child due to the risk and complications involved. After much thought and prayer we knew adoption was for us. We’re super excited to take on this adventure of becoming parents and all the memories it will bring.
I was born in North Carolina but moved to Florida to attend college and have pretty much called it home since. After graduating college I did move to Tennessee and Georgia for a few years but quickly learned that there’s no place like Florida so I returned.
As the middle child and only son, I quickly became a momma’s boy growing up. As a child I spent most of my summers at the community pool all day long and then playing baseball under the lights at night. Growing up, I fell in love with music and quickly learned that there was nothing better than attending a live concert. I’ve seen anyone from Dolly Parton to Justin Timberlake to TobyMac in concert. Needless to say, I’m a fan of all kinds of music and really enjoy watching the music come to life.
My parents encouraged me from a young age to love those around me no matter what. My life moto is to “leave this world better than we found it” and I strive after this in everything that I do. For my day job, I work for a financial firm where I assist our company leaders in their daily activities and events. I love my job, but I can’t wait for the day when I can also carry the title of “dad.”
I was born in South Carolina but grew up as a Georgia girl. I followed Nic to Florida several years ago and have fallen in love with our community and the blue skies.
I am the second child out of four kids. I loved being the center of attention whether that was dancing around the house, making random noises, talking really loud, or throwing an occasional fit accompanied by water works. During my teenage years I struggled to fit in because I knew I loved people and wanted to make a difference in others’ lives. I accomplished this by never sitting at the same lunch table, going on missions trips, & working at a local girl’s clothing store to make tween age girls feel beautiful.
After graduating high school I continued to work at the local clothing store until earning my Dental Assisting License. I have been in the dental field for ten years now and love it. I get to see something so small make a huge impact on someone’s life. While I love what I do on a daily basis, I long to be a mommy and a stay at home wife.
