Alec and Becky

Bellingham,Washington

Dear Expectant Parents,

Thank you so much for taking time to get to know us. We are honored that you are considering our family as a place for the child you are carrying. Our prayers are with you as you continue on this journey towards adoption. We have such admiration for you, for the courage and strength you are demonstrating in choosing to give life to your child and walk the difficult road of adoption. We pray often that God will be providing you with everything you need, strength, comfort, hope and peace. We’re grateful to be able to tell you more about us.

For many years, we’ve known we might not be able to conceive a child. After trying numerous treatments, this hard truth became our reality. However, we’ve always considered that adoption would be a wonderful way to build our family and to experience the heart of God, as He has adopted us into His family. We are excited and hopeful about becoming parents through the miracle of adoption.

Our Story
Two weeks after Becky moved to Alaska, we met on a weekend whitewater rafting trip with other young singles, sponsored by our church.  We began a friendship that weekend, which continued for over a year before we started dating. We both served together in the single’s ministry at our church, spent time at bonfires, BBQ’s and group gatherings, and got to know each other slowly. We dated for a little over a year and enjoyed many great experiences as our relationship deepened.

We married in 2008 in Alaska and began a wonderful adventure together. We  love being active. We enjoy the incredible outdoor playground where we live, through hiking, biking, camping, skiing and more. We also love cultural experiences, like Broadway shows, museums, music and the arts. We can’t wait to welcome a child into our lives and to share our interests with him or her.  We also love to travel around Alaska and to “The Lower 48,” as Alaskans call it. Our faith is a foundation of our lives and our marriage. We attend the church where we were wed, and enjoy participating in a Bible study with other young couples, all of whom have young children just waiting for a playmate from our household.  Alec serves on the board of directors for a growing ministry in town, one that ministers to athletes and coaches.

Our extended families are excited and hopeful as we pursue adoption. With family in Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Arizona and Texas, we look forward to traveling for family vacations. Any child in our home will be surrounded by love, support and care from family who love God and each other.

A little about Alec from Becky
Alec is the most loving, gracious and patient man I’ve ever met.  He loves life and tries to make the most of it. This leads to trying as many things as possible and always wanting to improve in the things that he enjoys the most. Alec grew up playing team sports like baseball and football (and still plays hockey) and now coaches little league. Other challenges he enjoys are downhill skiing and golf, and in the last few years he’s taken a greater interest in both mountaineering and hunting. He’s always loved the outdoors and has considerable experience camping, hiking, backpacking and biking. Alec is always up for adventure, but is also content with snuggling on the couch in front of a fire. Alec is a godly man who lives with incredible integrity. He is a wise business man and has a fantastic sense of humor. He’s always making me laugh with the silly songs he sings around the house! He really enjoys reading classic literature, spy novels and political memoirs. Alec is passionate about loving people and loving God.

A little about Becky from Alec
Becky is a peace-loving, justice seeking, intelligent, sweet and nurturing woman. She is always ready to serve others, and is committed to her family and friends. She does such a great job opening the doors of communication (teaching both English and American Sign Language) for the deaf and hard-of-hearing children whom she teaches. She has always loved the outdoors, and strives to enjoy them as much as she can, in a variety of forms. From family car-camping trips to our recent attempt to climbMt.Rainier, she loves the challenge of planning and executing safe and memorable outdoor experiences, and the memories and confidence gained once safely back home. When the weather doesn’t cooperate, she loves to curl up with a good book, chat with friends over coffee, or to cuddle through a movie. Last but not least, she is an avid scrap-booker, always taking photos and enhancing the memories we make. I thank God daily for her devotion to our marriage, my happiness, and God’s will for her life.

Where We Live
Our home is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath townhouse with a fenced back yard and gorgeous landscaping. We have mature trees and a variety of colorful flowers. We employ a wireless alarm system for security and enjoy good relationships with our neighbors, who between those on our left and on our right sides have 7 children under the age of 12!

We live in a lovely neighborhood on the south side of our city. It is literally across the street from middle and elementary schools, complete with brand new running track, playground, outdoor hockey rink, basketball court, baseball and soccer fields and a Frisbee golf course. We have views of the mountains, the ocean, gorgeous sunsets and city lights. Dozens of children run around and play in the small yards and large landscaped green spaces of the neighborhood. Nearby are trails, churches, stores, medical facilities and even an indoor waterpark. Our town lies within 15 minutes of world class hiking and camping, yet also has all the amenities and diversity one could want.

As you read through profiles and letters of potential homes for your child, we can only imagine the emotions that must be coursing through your minds and hearts. We want you to know how brave we think you are, how much we honor and admire your decision to give life to your child. Whoever receives the privilege of loving and raising your child will be blessed beyond measure. Should you choose to give us that privilege, please know that your child will be loved unconditionally, supported endlessly and cherished abundantly. We ask God to surround you with His love and blessings throughout this journey. If you would like to get to know us better or meet in person, we would welcome the opportunity.

With gratitude,
Alec and Becky
